Python for Data Science for 🇮🇳 & 🇵🇭
Python for Data Science is an introductory and beginners’ course to learning and understanding the fundamentals of coding in Python, a powerful, modern, industry demanding language. Participants will learn to write programs, perform various operations, manipulate and visualize data. Participants completing this course will be prepared to take up the advanced modules.
Hyper Island sessions are highly interactive and engaging. We let you try things by yourself, work in small group breakout sessions. There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions and engage with the facilitator. They will share many tools so that you will be able to develop data confidence and use back at work.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Understand basic operations on Python
- Understand OOP functionality in Python
- Learn about control structure and looping in Python
- Learning to code using the OOP concepts
- How to access and get data from external sources
- Working with strings and text
- Learn and code complex programs using Python Libraries
- Understand how to plot basic charts and graphs
- Learn how to scrape data from the web and source data using APIs
Pre Requisites
There are no pre-requisites required for this course. This course is targeted towards those who want to learn basic programming in python.

Selected programmes are accredited under SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and the Institute of Banking & Finance Singapore (IBF), and are eligible for funding for both individuals and organisations. They are eligible for funding either under the IBF Standards Training Scheme (IBF-STS) or SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), subject to all eligibility criteria being met. Candidates are advised to assess the suitability of the programme and its relevance to participants’ business activities or job roles.

Our Learning experiences help participants learn transferable skills that can be directly applied to their own workplace and career. We will draw on current and emerging international, local & Asian perspectives and case studies; and help participants consider the legal, social and ethical issues involved.
Our Singapore Campus is located at 991B Alexandra Road, a short walk from Labrador MRT station and directly opposite the PSA building. The 4,800 square foot space has been designed to inspire and enhance learning experiences. In the soundproof classrooms and ample studio space, collaboration and exploration thrive. Each classroom spans 52.7m², accommodating up to 35 students.
Unlike a conventional school campus, our space resembles an advertising agency, allowing for live project work, inspiration, and collaboration.

Please note that laptops are not provided by Hyper Island. Students are required to bring their own laptops for the course. WiFi will be available, and open-source tools will be utilised. Extension cables are provided so that laptops can be charged while in use.
