Human Centred Design Fundamentals
Design experiences and products that connect and inspire
What do our customers really want? In two days, we will innovate by empathising with our customers, get our hands dirty with rapid prototyping, and generate some creative ideas which are rooted in customer insights. Come on to the journey to transform the way you develop products, services, processes and strategies.
🌟 What will you learn?
At the end of this course, you should be able to:-
Gain techniques to better understand the social, emotional, and physical needs of your customers
-
Apply methods that will help you turn your customer needs into human-centred solutions
-
Use ideation techniques to quickly generate, develop, and test new ideas by gaining feedback through rapid prototyping
-
Showcase your new skills through tangible, real-world project challenges, like an insights report or prototypes of products and services
🎯 Course Schedule
Day 1 - Uncovering human needs
We will begin the course by looking into failed innovation, and how designing for human needs could improve chances for success. We will then learn and practice techniques to uncover real customer needs that can never be surfaced in a survey or focus group.
By the end of Day 1, you will have learnt about:
- Products vs. Needs
- Understanding your customers' Jobs-to-be-done
- Developing personas and job statements
Day 2 - Bringing ideas to life
Equipped with a new way to discover customer insights from yesterday, we will now learn to convert these insights into products and services!
We will learn and practice tools and methods to bring a customer insight into a business idea. Furthermore, we will explore transforming these ideas into a product prototype. Finally, we will reflect on how we might bring our learnings back to our workplace.
By the end of Day 2, you will have learnt about:
- Reframing a problem statement
- Ideation tools and methods
- Rapid prototyping
